Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan

Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan_thumbUstad Iqbal Ahmed Khan was born on the 19th of January, 1955 in Sharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to a family of musicians . His father Ustad Shakur Khan, was an accomplished vocal artist.

As a young child, Iqbal Khan began learning table from Ustad Inam Ali Khan. He later went on to learn from Ustad Amir Hussain Khan and Ustad Ahmed Jan Tirakwa. Ustad Iqbal Khan belongs to the great Delhi Gharana. Ustad Iqbal Khan has performed in numerous prestigious music conferences, including Sur Singar Samsad, Har Vallabh Sangeet Samaroh, and the Taj Music Festival. He is a high graded artist of All India Radio and Dur Darshan Kendra.

He has accompanied great musicians like Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Pt.Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Ahmad Hussain, Mohmmad Hussain, Gulam Ali, Rashid Khan, and Jagjit Singh.

Khan Sahab was invited as a musical artist to perform before Shri Mataji in Delhi in 1999, during her welcoming celebration. Upon hearing his musical talent, Shri Mataji asked if he would like to teach at Shri.P.K.Salve Kala Pratishthan ,Vaitarna . Under his guidance, there are now many students in various parts of the world that are practicing the art of tabla.
